Modular One

Part One of our series delves deep into the elemental theory and constitutional framework of Ayurveda, exploring how these ancient concepts form the cornerstone of holistic health and wellness. This session aims to bridge the profound connection between the foundational principles of Ayurveda—such as the five elements, three doshas, and vital essences—and their practical applications in yoga.

Objectives:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the five great elements (Pancha Mahabhutas) and their influence on physical and mental health.

  • Explore the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and how they shape individual constitution and health dynamics.

  • Understand the role of vital essences (Ojas, Tejas, and Prana) in maintaining and enhancing life force through Ayurvedic and yogic practices.

  • Learn to apply these principles in designing yoga sessions that are tailored to balance doshas and optimize health.

  • Equip yoga teachers with the knowledge to incorporate Ayurvedic wisdom into their teachings for a more nuanced and effective approach to wellness.

Modular Two

In Part Two of our series, we focus on the dynamic integration of daily and seasonal Ayurvedic practices with yoga to create a deeply therapeutic approach tailored to individual needs. This session explores how daily routines (dinacharya) and seasonal wisdom (ritucharya) can enhance yoga practice, align with natural rhythms, and promote sustained health and vitality.

Objectives:

  • Understand the significance of aligning yoga practice with daily and seasonal rhythms to optimize health and well-being.

  • Explore the philosophical underpinnings that connect Ayurveda and yoga, emphasizing the flow of prana (life force) through these practices.

  • Learn to incorporate specific Ayurvedic and yogic practices into daily routines to enhance physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

  • Develop skills to use yoga as a form of therapy that addresses individual imbalances through personalized practice plans.

Modular three

Day Three of our series is designed to bring together all the elements we've discussed, focusing on the practical implementation of Ayurvedic principles in yoga lesson planning. This session will guide participants through the process of creating comprehensive yoga classes that integrate asanas, pranayamas, and meditations tailored to balance the doshas and enhance overall well-being according to Ayurvedic guidelines.

Objectives:

  • Master the art of designing Ayurvedic-influenced yoga classes that cater to individual and group needs.

  • Learn to incorporate specific pranayamas and meditations that align with Ayurvedic principles for health and balance.

  • Develop a holistic approach to yoga teaching that includes Ayurvedic concepts to enhance physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

  • Equip participants with the tools to apply these concepts in real-world settings, enhancing their effectiveness as yoga therapists and instructors.

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS IMMERSION PRACTITIONERS WILL:

  • Understanding of Ayurvedic Principles: Proficiency in the foundational theories of Ayurveda, including the understanding of the five elements, three doshas, and the interaction between bodily constitutions and environmental factors.

Additional Information

This retreat is open to all Yoga Teachers or students currently enrolled a yoga teacher training program. For those who are already certified, this retreat offers 18 hours of CE credits.

TRAVEL DETAILS

Check-in is after 2 pm on arrival day and check out is before 11 am on departure day. Arrival dinner, welcome meditation, and closing yoga and departing breakfast is included.

St. George Regional Airport is nearby with daily flights to Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City and Dallas. Las Vegas is less than a two-hour drive and affordable door-to-door shuttle service offered every hour. (St. George Shuttle or Salt Lake Express)

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR WEATHER

Situated where the Mojave Desert meets the Great Basin and the Colorado Plateau, this region boasts a distinct desert climate with clear skies, over 300 days of sunshine, mild winters, and warm summers. St. George lies at an elevation of 2,880 feet, rising to 10,000 feet in the neighboring Pine Valley Mountains. During winters, bring layered clothing, and for summers, opt for airy, lightweight fabrics. The majority of the year experiences temperate weather.


MEET YOUR FACILITATOR

Instructor

Kathy Jo Stäheli, AD, AYT, PKT began her yoga journey in 1996, completing her first teacher training and internship in traditional Hatha Yoga in 1998. Over nearly 30 years, she has deepened her practice through advanced training as Ayurveda Yoga Therapy, Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, and more.

Her path in Ayurvedic medicine and Yoga led her to India, where she completed multiple internships with renowned Ayurvedic doctors and Yoga teachers in clinics, hospitals, and retreat centers, honing her expertise in Yoga Therapy, Panchakarma and Ayurvedic healing. Kathy Jo also worked and studied with esteemed institutions like Kerala Ayurveda Academy and Bastyr University, where she contributed as both a practitioner and global business development manager, bringing Ayurvedic education and resources to the U.S.

As a NAMACB-certified Ayurvedic Doctor, she has held leadership roles within the National Ayurvedic Medical Association, and is currently chairing the Panchakarma Committee. She is the founder of Purusha Ayurveda Wellness and Panchakarma Retreat Center, where she integrates her extensive knowledge and compassionate care to guide clients toward balance and rejuvenation through the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda.


YOGA TEACHER

Kallie Taylor, 500 E-RYT, PKT is a yoga instructor and Panchakarma Technician with several years of experience. She has studied multiple styles of teaching in Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa, Kettlebells CKC, Pilates CHPI, is certified in hands-on assist, and has experience teaching Yoga to people who are recovering from addiction. 

Kallie’s inspiration comes from the nature below our feet, the star nations, nature all around, and nature from within. She brings in concepts of life cycles, the elements, our subtle energy body, and Yoga philosophy to her teachings. She adds an ethereal essence to her classes through her custom playlists yoked of medicine songs and mantras, and aiding with sound healing produced by singing bowls. Other adventures that improve the quality of Kallie’s life are traveling, hiking, and camping. 


AYURVEDIC CHEF

Sarah Syson, is an Ayurvedic Holistic Health Coach, and our dedicated Ayurvedic chef. Inspired by her journey with yoga, Sarah sought a holistic path to achieving balanced health and vitality. She is currently deepening her knowledge as an Ayurvedic Health Counselor through Kerala Ayurveda and is committed to lifelong learning. With plans to complete her yoga teacher training and continue advancing her Ayurvedic education, Sarah brings a wealth of passion and purpose to her work.

Guided by her love for nature, she connects daily with the elements, exploring practices that harmonize the mind, body, and spirit. Sarah finds joy in nourishing our Panchakarma and workshop guests, crafting balanced Ayurvedic meals infused with love and prana.
